Memory Itch...
In my wee teen years, my girl friend and I used to lay on her bedroom floor on our stomachs in front of her boom box, eating twinkies and making mixed tapes of our recorded voices and songs we snagged off the radio, but only if we could time them just perfectly. Our tracked conversations were more giggles and noise making than anything and the music was always the latest R&B crap from Q104-7. I haven't the faintest idea whether those tapes exist anymore but I would pay top dollar to get my hands on them.
My thought is that by putting this memory to hand my mind will put it at rest for the time being.

My head is cloudy.

1.28 Day 5

Purse, Please...
I'm in dire need of a new handbag. I've nearly lost my most essential and sentimental belongings from my current bag more than once and after last night's incident I realize my carelessness is evident and my patience is running out. Can I just have the best of both worlds please, functionality and a look to be relished? I found this bag, Tod's Bauletto "Helmut" tote, and I'm definitely crushing. Though I can't necessarily afford it ($1500 for the smaller 14 x 8.5) a girl can dream, can't she? I'll take the white one, please.

On a different note... Cat and dog weather. Snow, more snow, (brrrrrr) cold. Oh, and the rain, sleet, and hail party, also known as "wintry mix". That's the best term the meteorologists could come up with..."wintry mix". I love it. So I dream of summer time, warm sun, picnics, and bikinis. A visual may help.
I thank my "friend" who was here in the city not long ago for the photo.

1.27 Day 4

MoMA
This has to be my favorite piece of art at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. I was fascinated with the production the first time arou
nd and have since become pretty enamored.
This line appears in the 1957 movie
Sweet Smell of Success, written by Ernest Lehman and Clifford Odets and directed by Alexander Mackendrick. It is a code phrase uttered by one of the characters to indicate that a dirty job has been done.
When he saw the film, Christopher Wool was struck by the poetry and sinister terseness of the phrase.
This work is part of a series of language-based black-and-white paintings that Wool began making in the mid-1980s.
As John Baldessari said, "Art is a creation for the eye and can only be hinted at with words."

Though I attempt at daily blogs, the job's currently got the best of my time. I'm trying...but will be back tomorrow.

1.24 Day 3

Throwing a little fashion love your way...
'Tis the Spring season to hear the birds chirp, see the sun shine, and begin to unpeel the accumulated layers from the ever chilling winter months. These are a few of my girlie-girl favorites from the Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear shows.

I thought I would end with a little inclination...CHLOƋ SEVIGNY, “Big Love” star, clothing designer, one of my personal favorite style icons. Her look always appears effortless, balanced, and chic. Just peachy, pretty lady. This meanie of a flu is finally coming to an end. But without it I would not have begun this "public journal" avocation of mine, thanks to hours of time spent in bed nearly forgetting that a world existed outside my little shoebox. Perhaps, and hopefully, it will take me beyond my four walls.
Finally...rest, without fever.

1.23 Day 2

When times are heavy I tend to turn towards the "poppier" tunes to avoid the heartache I'm feeling. After all, who wants to listen to gooey slow songs when your heart feels like a piece of bubble gum that just got wedged up under someone's shoe?
I'm in a different place now, sailed a different ship, an
d the gooey songs aren't so somber anymore. As my heart thaws, these songs become sultry and inspiring. Consider it a collaboration of some of my favorite tunes that bring out the more "romantic" side in me...

Radiohead, In Rainbows. Song, "Reckoner"

Lydia, Illuminate. Song, "This is Twice Now"

The Album Leaf, Into the Blue Again. Song, "Always for you"

Blonde Redhead, Misery is a Butterfly. Song, "Elephant Woman"

Cat Power, You are Free. Song, "A Good Woman"

Bloc Party, Intimacy. Song, "Signs"

Now...who else is in the mood to make out?

1.22 Day 1

It is nearly always the simple pleasures in life that I enjoy the most. This is the case with art as well. A few elementary words, maybe an ordinary and informal picture. Yet it is this art that seems the most sincere, the most romantic, the most dreamy...

I originally saw this poster appear in the 2006 September issue of Domino magazine in a shabby white frame on a fireplace mantal. I instantly fell in love. It has been especially popular and been reprinted a few times since, each time with a price increase. It was designed in 2004 as a part of a thesis project in the Graphic Design program at Yale University. It can be found at vllg.com

This is a 9x9" two color hand pulled screenprint, printed with Golden brand acrylics on handcut vintage Strathmore Pastelle Antique Yellow stock. This is number 17 out of a variable edition of 20. Etsy.com

Original ACEO art trading card. Created with letterpress printing--two colors, hand-set type, image made with photopolymer plate. This is a simply quirky little card in a series of eight with various characters and captions. Etsy.com

Oh, miss Antoinette, when did it all get so complicated?
This lovely poster was designed and hand screen printed on Rives Heavyweight printmaking paper. It is just off-white and oh so tough-but-tender in character. Natural and torn deckle edges, each print is signed and dated on the verso. Image size is 9"x12". Esty.com

This is a "Live What You Love" 4th edition print. Differently used wood type blocks from 1st and 2nd edition, and same, but slightly different (due to vintage condition) wood type blocks from 3rd edition and it is limited to only 50 prints. It is in 8x10 inches, letterpressed by hand using vintage wood type blocks on 110lb, 100% cotton Lettra paper (means no tree!). I just couldn't help myself and purchased a red print. Etsy.com

Wish me well. This flu has me up against a wall.
